Death, Taxes and Beer

Today in 1933, Prohibition ended! A perfect lesson that the only thing that changes things is change…except death and taxes.   What changed?

Before prohibition, about 40% of government income was taxes on wine, beer and liquor, so the gov replaced with a national income tax during prohibition.

But on this day drinking AND the liquor tax were back…and  politicians were fine keeping the income tax.  Cheers
