Things should be “looking up” today. Asteroid 7482 (1994 PC1) will be streaking by about 5pm (eastern US) today (1/18). A true “happy” hour? Over 2x as big as the Empire State Building…and moving almost 44K MPH, It will (should) miss us by a million miles; and don’t worry, nothing will get this close again for about 200 years.
You may be able to see it with a small telescope in North America. Look south, near Pisces…and not too far from Uranus. (I’m not making that part up either)
A good night to watch “Don’t Look Up”?
